My dad had this idea in the late 1980's, and this is the prototype he created to secure the copyright to it. This is a George Brett trophy style lamp that is meant to display a baseball card on. His idea was to display a baseball card of your favorite player batting, while also doubling as a nightlight with the ball shining into the web of the glove and onto a framed picture of the player in a fielding position. My dad chose Mr. Brett for his detailed example. None of these were ever sold and the molds are long gone. This is museum quality artwork from a stalled business attempt just a short lifetime ago. For me to find such a personal card like this over three decades later will always be astonishing to me. I have to believe that God wanted to create the best baseball card ever displayed and used us to do it.
Over the years there have been a few different George Brett cards on it, and not even a "perfect" 1975 rookie card could best the perfect scene that this card completed. From that Rawlings logo to the style of cursive writing used for the Flawless logo, this One of One relic is no doubt the best baseball card ever signed by George Brett. It's unlike anything ever seen in the hobby or the art world and combines both brilliantly. Three decades stand between these two and they look like a match made in Heaven. And not only is this the best George Brett card ever made; it's the best baseball card ever displayed, and it couldn't be more obvious. Rawlings was the brand of glove my dad used to make the mold for this lamp, so that logo is just as correct as the way his eyes follow that homerun he just hit.
Based on looks alone, there has never been a baseball card that was truly meaningful or convincing enough to be proclaimed "the best baseball card ever", until this majestic anomaly entered the game. Meet The Best Baseball Card Ever - a modern work of art and the best baseball card ever displayed.
Predestined best describes how this 2018 Panini Flawless baseball card completed this 1989 George Brett trophy, and in the process, it instantly became the best baseball card ever displayed. It looks like George blasted the ball straight out of the card as the fielding hall of famer ironically watches the play unfold from above. You can smell the tobacco on his breath, and he probably even wiped his mouth on that part of his jersey. This card was already four years old when I found it and could've ended up anywhere or even forgotten about. Instead, it ended up here; finishing this meticulously crafted sculpture from over three decades ago and became the best baseball card ever displayed on video.
I found that card in December of 2021. Fast forward four and five months respectively, I found the 2019 and 2020 versions of the same card that captures George Brett's entire hall of fame swing! All three are the One of One parallel, making this the world's first baseball card trilogy! The 2018-19 cards are black with very fine details, and the 2020 is a platinum blue that is right on point with the George Brett glove. They complement each other so well that it inspired me to create an even bigger scene with more Panini Flawless baseball players, starting with a rare Honus Wagner card of my own. The king of the cards in books meets the best baseball card ever for looks!
If you were really searching for the best baseball card ever, you found it. You also found a modern work of art and a baseball card collection like no other. After finding those two other George Brett relic cards, I knew this needed a home of its own and more players around it. 2022 Panini Flawless was just starting to be released around then and proved to be a solid lineup of players to build around. It took over three years to find these players, and it doesn't take long to see what's going here. Two all-star teams slugging it out in the grandstands with the highest graded George Brett rookie card ever by CSG (CGC) batting cleanup. That CSG slabbed 1975 Topps George Brett rookie card #228 is among the nicest and most well centered in the world. Upgrading it may be possible but with very little to gain.
This card is well documented in pictures and on video. I would never trade up to a Beckett or PSA 10 if I felt their card wasn't as centered or as nice. It would simply be a fake vanity point and would only subtract from the overall appearance of this work. I professionally regraded this card as MT+ to align with reality. That means mint plus a whole lot more than you will get from any other George Brett rookie card and a reminder that card graders are inconsistent.
The Flawless players cleverly mirror one another in this all One of One game from the bleachers and feature four One of a Kind multi-gem cards: rubies (Mike Trout), sapphires (Joe DiMaggio) and diamonds (Lou Gehrig, Ken Griffey Jr.). The rest of the starting lineups are platinum or black parallels and feature Jackie Robinson, Aaron Judge, Mel Ott, Alek Thomas (R), Ted Williams, Roger Maris, Willie Mays and Babe Ruth on the home team: with Mickey Mantle, Shohei Ohtani, Honus Wagner, Bobby Witt Jr. (R), Roberto Clemente, Ryne Sandberg, Harmon Killebrew and Tony Gwynn representing the visitors. The best George Brett rookie card ever on YouTube can also be alternated with the most perfect superfractor ever on YouTube.
All of these cards and their cases are at least near mint or better without any noticeable marks or scratches. In fact, I sent a couple cards back to Panini for replacement and another for a chipped case. Not all Panini Flawless baseball cards come sealed with that security sticker on top either, so I had to use cases from other sealed parallels for cards like Bo and Rocket that didn't come that way new. The cards are normally kept in clear protective bags, and the bags are changed every time the cards are taken out. I use these Ultra-PRO resealable bags because they work really well at protecting the cases from dust and fingerprints. The gallery below shows the Honus Wagner diamond gem in one. When the field is complete, the bags come off for the best baseball card spectacle ever!
